Theory to Reality- OHT New Grads Survival Guide.
Event description
What I Wish I Knew as a New Grad OHT.
Starting out as a new Oral Health Therapist can feel like stepping into the deep end. This session is designed to support recent graduates (up to 3 years out) as they navigate the real-life challenges of clinical practice.
You’ll learn how to identify red and green flags in workplaces, negotiate your wage with confidence, and manage difficult patients and parents. We’ll also explore communication strategies, workplace expectations, and how to find your voice in a team environment.
Most importantly, we’ll share real-world clinical tips (Periodontal therapy, Restorative and more) and provide practical advice on how to actually treat patients within the time you have—because theory only gets you so far.
From setting achievable treatment goals to managing self-doubt, knowing when to ask for help or refer, and finding your rhythm as a clinician, this session offers honest insights, useful tools, and the kind of advice every new grad wishes they heard sooner.
Plus, enjoy a special guest segment from a leading Orthodontist, talking all things Ortho for OHTs—from early assessment tips to practical clinical advice.
