The Pavement Kingdom: a clinic escort play (STL pop up show!)
Event description
Come see a pop-up performance of THE PAVEMENT KINGDOM: A CLINIC ESCORT PLAY before we jet off to the Big Apple for our NYC premiere (gasp!) 🍎
***
THE PAVEMENT KINGDOM is a play about clinic escorting in the Midwest, where access to abortion is highly restricted. Our clinic escort, "Charon," helps patients get past the ire of anti-abortion protestors while secretly working on her comedy routine. She desperately wants to make you laugh. If you missed our original show back in January/February 2025, now's your chance to see it again.
Originally written with generous support from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, THE PAVEMENT KINGDOM is an open-access, free-to-perform script. It will have its NYC premiere later in October with Bechdel Project as part of their Interstate Initiative. Help us warm up this piece by attending this St. Louis pop-up performance so we can release our jitters before taking this play on the next stage of its journey!

The $20 suggested donation goes directly to our team members, listed below. Although our producers in New York fully fund our NYC production, we're hoping to fundraise a bit of "pocket money" to cover discretionary spending during our 5-day trip (cab fares, subway, some meals, snacks, coffee, etc.).

If you are able, please bring a camp chair (or any easy-to-carry folding chair) to help us make sure we have enough seating in our performance space. We will have some chairs available.
It's a bit! Our character, Charon, has a camp chair, too! 🪑
Please join us! We'll be performing in the Shakespeare Festival's rehearsal hall on the second floor of 3333 Washington Ave. There will be folks at the doors/elevators to let you in. :)
