Event description

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Training – Strengthening Workforce Resilience

The Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) program is a trauma-informed crisis prevention and intervention approach designed for those caring for children and young people in out-of-home care, schools, and foster/kinship care. TCI focuses on helping young people manage stress, frustration, and anger in a constructive way while ensuring staff can intervene safely and therapeutically in crisis situations.

This training is structured as an organisational system, covering six key domains to ensure effective implementation:
✅ Child & Family Inclusion
✅ Leadership & Program Support
✅ Clinical Participation
✅ Supervision & Post-Crisis Response
✅ Training & Competency Standards
✅ Documentation & Incident Monitoring

Priority will be given to aged and disability support staff under the Greater Whitsunday Care Alliance, which is funded by Jobs Queensland and powered by the Queensland Government’s Workforce Strategy 2022–2032, to enhance workforce resilience in these sectors.

Training Objectives:

✔ Prevent and de-escalate crises proactively
✔ Manage crisis situations in a therapeutic manner, including safe physical intervention when necessary
✔ Support children and young people post-crisis to improve coping strategies

This training is a valuable opportunity to enhance skills and build a more resilient workforce.
