There Will Be No Modi 3.0 in India (Melbourne) - Vijay Prashad Australia Tour

The Indian election of 2024 reveals two distinct and seemingly contradictory processes: the rise of an electorate angered by the rising inflation and the increasing social inequality, and the entrenchment of the BJP as the embodiment of national destiny. These two contradictory processes are at play beneath the surface and are much more important than the public relations buzz around the term Modi 3.0. In fact, there is no Modi 3.0. There are merely these, and other, social processes.

In this talk, Vijay Prashad will assess the 2024 election in line with a sense of the political economy of India today.
