THINKING IN PANELS - a comics workshop with Aśka
Description
Celebrate the release of The Friendship Paradox, the latest graphic novel by award-winning visual storyteller Aśka!
FREE EVENT
Ever wondered how to turn a feeling, a random thought or a moment from your life into a comic? Join Aśka to explore the possibilities of visual storytelling and discover how to turn ideas into stories, one panel at a time.
Through a series of hands-on experiments, you’ll explore different ways to express emotions, play with pacing and use pictures to tell stories. Discover how the way you arrange panels, pose characters and choose what to show (or leave out!) can completely change how a story feels.
No fancy drawing skills required! This workshop is all about thinking visually, experimenting with ideas and finding your own way to tell stories with pictures. Whether you're already making comics or just curious to give it a go, come and see what your brain can do.
Also - snacks will be provided!
There’ll also be an opportunity to purchase copies of Aśka’s books and get them signed at the end of the session.
The age range on this workshop is strict. Grouping similarly aged children means everyone can participate equally in the activities and that we can program appropriate and exciting activities for the group. Please be mindful when enrolling.
This workshop will be facilitated and supervised by staff who hold current Working with Children Checks.
