This is an eight-week course introducing the basics of strategic thinking as well as examining how we create a culture of strategy in the radical left in Melbourne.
Course outline:
Week 1 (30/07): 'Introducing Strategy'
Week 2 (06/08): Sun Tzu, Mao Zedong and the 'people's war'.
Week 3 (13/08): 'Victory of the Vietnamese over the United States'.
Week 4 (20/08): 'The Black Panthers'
Week 5 (27/08): 'Gramsci and re-imagining revolution.'
Week 6 (03/09): José Mariátegui, Cuba and Latin American Marxism'
Week 7 (10/09): 'The Zapatista struggle'
Week 8 (17/09): 'Revolution in Australia?'
The classes will be held at the New International Bookshop in Trades Hall. Classes will go from 6 - 8.30pm. Readings and resources for the course will be available upon registering.
There is a sliding scale regarding costs:
$150 unwaged / $200 underemployed / $250 waged / supporter $300.
