Event description

Thirrili is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Indigenous Suicide Postvention Service and the provider for the new ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Postvention, and Aftercare Service. Thirrili is working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Working Group and is supported by ACT Health Directorate to provide holistic and culturally safe suicide care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live in the ACT and with a connection to the ACT.

Thirrili would like to invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, carers, community advocates, and survivors to attend a half-day co-design workshop on 28th March from 12pm-5pm at the Yarramundi Cultural Centre, 245 Lady Denman Drive.

We wish to yarn about:

· What fosters social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT

· How care should be delivered on Country

· How health and wellbeing services are supporting Community in all areas of suicide reduction

· How we can best follow the direction of local Community

· Where care should be delivered on Country

This will not be a once-off workshop, rather it will be an initial event to build long-term relationships and open an ongoing learning process for Thirrili. Thirrili’s Cultural Responsibility is to ensure that this new way of caring is established by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the ACT. There will be lunch served from 12pm for Community and Thirrili staff to meet before commencing business at 1pm. We encourage attendees to stay for as long as they would like, and to keep in touch with Thirrili staff after the event.

If you are unable to make this event, we encourage Community to use either the online survey to be heard or contact the Thirrili ACT Advocate directly for a yarn on 1800 805 801 or at communications@thirrili.com.au
