This Is Where We Live
Event description
Eleven Eleven Theatre are proud to present their debut show: a production of the award-winning Australian play 'This Is Where We Live' by Vivienne Walshe, directed by Suzie Thomas.
ABOUT THE PLAY
In her final year of school, Chloe arrives in a depressing remote town. It’s rough but she’s hanging on. Before he died, she promised her Dad she was going to see school through to the end. Since then, she’s moved from place-to-place, following whichever dead-beat boyfriend her Mum's currently shacked up with. Her hopeless future is almost inevitable. Odd boy Chris will never live up to his dad’s impossible expectations. Usually, he escapes to an imaginary world where he can be the hero instead, but Chloe’s arrival drags him back to reality and he wants nothing more than to be in her orbit.
When these two lonely kids connect, for a moment, it seems like they can lead each other out of the dark to a place where things are possible. Conjuring the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, This is where we live is about beauty and bile, poetry and piss-stains and getting the hell out of town.
