Event description

Threads is a photographic exhibition of Gemma Raso's artwork which explores the impacts of physical connection, personal safe spaces, and the surrounding land on Disabled experiences, A long term, collaborative project exploring portraiture and textiles, Threads questions how the conversation between the two can reveal the depth of various experiences of living with a disability, chronic illness, and/or neurodivergence.

The second series, *Cartography of Perception', is a personal photographic map of sorts, chronicling Gemma's mobility, pain, and joy in relation to landscape and Country.

Threads was largely photographed and sequenced on Wurundjeri-willam Country. Cartography of Perception was photographed on many Countries, including Gadubanud, Anangu and Aranda. I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Countries on which these photographs were taken, and their past, present, and enduring knowledge and practices alluded to in this series.

I support the continuing efforts for sovereignty. Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.

To access the gallery, there are 20 stairs. At this time, the gallery is unfortunately not an accessible venue for wheelchair users.
