Threads of Care - Creative Workshop for Carers
Event description
You’re invited to MHCN’s free Mental Health Month event, Threads of Care, a creative workshop designed especially for mental health carers.
This event will be led by art therapist Lisa McArthur-Edwards, who brings a supportive approach to using creativity as a tool for self-expression and connection. The workshop offers a mix of gentle movement, writing, and art-making activities that invite carers to pause and reflect on their unique caring journeys in a safe and collaborative space.
The day begins with the Pendulum of Caring activity, using gentle movement and reflection to map emotions and find your middle ground, before putting together a message of encouragement from your future carer self.
The afternoon will involve a Threads of Care weaving activity, transforming words and emotions into fabric strips that are joined into a collective artwork representing both personal and shared experiences. The workshop closes with a session journalling, offering space to capture insights and small steps to carry forward.
There will also be a complimentary afternoon tea provided and a chance to connect with other carers at the end of the session. No creative experience or talent required, and all materials will be provided!
