Join the Watershed Association, in partnership with the San Marcos Public Library, for the next installment of our Land.Water.Connection Educational Series.

As drought, rapid growth, and changing landscapes continue to impact our region, communities are discovering innovative ways to steward land and water more thoughtfully. This engaging panel discussion will highlight real-world approaches to creating healthier, more resilient landscapes while rethinking how we conserve one of our most precious resources.

Together, our panelists will explore how ecological design, regenerative land stewardship, biomimicry, and innovative water management can help communities respond to dry landscapes with practical, forward-thinking solutions. From restoring natural systems to designing landscapes that work with water rather than against it, attendees will leave with fresh ideas, inspiring examples, and practical tools for creating landscapes that thrive in drought.

Every Drop Counts: Rainwater Harvesting and One Water Solutions

Join the Watershed Association for a unique opportunity to experience Texas' first One Water School at Blue Hole Primary, where innovative design demonstrates how every drop of water can be valued, captured, reused, and conserved. Designed through a collaborative effort between Wimberley ISD, the Watershed Association, Texas State's Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, and many dedicated partners, Blue Hole Primary serves as a living model for how communities can build smarter while protecting precious water resources. The campus incorporates rainwater harvesting, air conditioner condensate capture, water reuse systems, rain gardens, permeable pavers, and other innovative features that reduce its water demand by approximately 90% compared to a conventional school campus.

The afternoon will begin with a guided tour of the campus led by Engineer Nick Dornak, who helped bring the One Water vision to life. Following the tour, Dr. Larry Sunn, founder of Rainbees, will lead a discussion on rainwater harvesting and the growing role of decentralized water solutions in building more resilient communities.

**To conclude the event, one lucky attendee will take home a Texas Metal Tank rainwater harvesting system through a special giveaway. **

Diving Deeper into Jacob's Well: An evening with Author Stephen Harrigan exploring the history & mystery of Jacob's Well

Join the Watershed Association for a special evening exploring one of the Hill Country’s most iconic and mysterious natural treasures: Jacob’s Well.

As part of our Land.Water.Connection educational series, acclaimed Texas author Stephen Harrigan will join us for a conversation inspired by his novel, Jacob’s Well. Originally published in 1984, the novel takes readers beneath the surface and into the mysterious underwater passageways of a Central Texas aquifer, weaving the landscape and depths of Jacob’s Well into a powerful story of human connection, risk, and discovery.

Together, we’ll dive deeper into the history, mystery, and enduring significance of Jacob’s Well, exploring Harrigan’s connection to the Well, the experiences and stories that inspired his writing, and what this extraordinary place has come to represent within our community.

Whether you’ve known Jacob’s Well for decades or are just beginning to discover its story, we invite you to join us for an evening of storytelling and conversation.

Light food and beverages will be offered throughout the evening, and a limited number of copies of Jacob’s Well will be available for purchase at the event. The book can also be purchased in advance through University of Texas Press.
