Through a climate change lens: Aotearoa New Zealand’s COVID-19 response
Event description
Calls for governments to ‘build back better’ and finance a ‘green recovery’ in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic have echoed around the world. But how green have countries’ economic responses really been?
The pandemic was a turning point in showing how our country can collectively respond to a crisis. Nina Ives and David Hall from Auckland University of Technology have worked to understand to what extent the New Zealand Government has taken the pandemic as an opportunity to redirect financial resources towards addressing the crisis of human-induced climate change.
Join us on Zoom for Climate Club's first ever lightning talk session, where we bring in experts and activists to give 5/15/30 min talks about an area that they are working in.
This session will be a 20 minute presentation + 10 minutes for questions. People can also hang around for longer if they would like to talk about the Climate Club NZ actions for this week or even just climate change stuff in general! :)
