Thursday Lunch Club: Tamara Taylor
Event description
The Friendship Myth and How Expectations Shape Our Social World
What happens to friendship as we grow older? Why do so many older adults experience loneliness, even in seemingly connected communities?
Tamara explores how our deeply held ideas of what a “true friend” should be can actually prevent us from forming meaningful connections in later life. Drawing on her background in Health Psychology and real-world experience from her work with C Care’s Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS), Tamara invites us to reconsider how we define connection and embrace evolving models of friendship.
About the speaker: Tamara Taylor has a Masters Degree in Health Psychology and has worked in research across community, health, and lifespan sectors. As C Care’s ACVVS Coordinator, she matches volunteers with seniors to foster companionship and lasting connection.
Let’s explore how friendships evolve—and how flexible thinking can help build stronger communities.
