Event description

Have you ever been asked to say a karakia, and felt like you didn't know how?

Do you want to contribute to a kōrero, but you're not sure whether or not that's tika, or what that even means?

Are you curious about understanding Te Ao Māori, but feel like you don't know enough to ask the right questions?

This workshop is for you!
At Young Labour Christchurch, we're passionate about building confidence and competence in engaging with Te Ao Māori, and we've put together this workshop as an opportunity for people to ask open questions and learn more.

The workshop is run by Samantha Bergin (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Rehia, Maniapoto), who has experience in co-facilitating workshops for The Collaborative Trust with the primary purpose of incorporating tikanga into them. The workshop is designed to be a welcoming, judgement free space for people to develop their confidence.

No prior knowledge in Tikanga Māori is required! Just bring yourself and your curiosity

The workshop is offered in two sessions, Friday and Saturday afternoon, just pick the one that works for you!
Food is provided but attendees are also welcome to bring a plate or bowl of something as a koha to share with others.

All are welcome, you don't have to be a Labour party member to attend!

The event is being held in the Community Engagement Hub, Room 108 of the Rehua building at University of Canterbury.
