Tinkers' Run

Stawell, Victoria in 1955. Mr Jack Tinker, owner of Tinkers’ Run, has just been buried, leaving the property to his four daughters. 

But this is 1955. Women cannot have credit cards nor sign for loans or mortgages. 

The girls’ cousin, Nigel Lamberton is their new Bank Manager. He has plans to call in the Bank Mortgage on Tinkers’ Run, knowing full well that his cousins cannot sign without a male guarantor. He hopes to find evidence that the rule of primogeniture will fall in his favour and he will assume the inheritance of Tinkers’ Run.

Stawell has a recently renovated Milk Bar, called the Acropolis, run by Italian migrant, Niko Ferrari. It is the teenagers’ favourite hang-out. Add into the mix the roustabout; the family solicitor; a family of long-time friends; a couple of crooked accountants; some not-so-bright prospectors; a pair of Government Surveyors; and the scene is set for a rural, rockabilly ruckus!
