Help Grow the Future of Montessori Training in Australia Every AMI trainer starts as a Montessori educator who takes a bold step into years of extra study, mentoring and practice through the AMI Trainer of Trainers Program. It’s a long road—one that requires dedication, hard work and resilience —but it’s also the only way to ensure that Australia continues to have AMI trainers in the long run, needed to pass on authentic Montessori practice to future generations. At SMTC, we’re proud to stand alongside Australian educators who choose this path, whether in the 0–3, 3–6, 6–12 or 12–18 levels. We provide as much support as we can with certain costs but the truth is, our resources are limited. AMI provides some assistance, yet the majority of the journey is self-funded by the individual. Trainers in training often face unpaid time off work, the costs of flights to training blocks, and fees for the international seminar program as well as child care, accommodation and other expenses. For most, being a trainer means working in the not-for-profit sector, where salaries are modest. Add it all up, and it can take years—sometimes multiple courses—just to break even. This heavy financial burden can hold back talented educators from stepping into training, even though our whole Montessori community relies on them. Without new trainers moving through the pipeline, the future of AMI training in Australia is at risk. However together we can change this story. Your support can make all the difference— it can go to helping us to cover the costs of travel, accommodation, seminar fees, or even providing a small stipend so a trainer in training can focus on their work. Every contribution, big or small, helps create the conditions for success. By supporting Australian trainers in training, you’re doing more than helping one person. You’re investing in the future of Montessori education in this country—ensuring that children, families and educators across Australia can continue to benefit from the depth and authenticity that AMI training provides sustainably into the future. Together, we can remove the risk and make sure the next generation of trainers is ready to guide the way.
