Are You Frustrated When…

  • Clients understand their trauma intellectually but continue to react emotionally?

  • Progress feels slower than either you or your client would like?

  • Clients repeatedly revisit the same painful experiences without resolution?

  • Trauma-related symptoms continue despite months or years of treatment?

  • You wish you had a more structured process for working with trauma?

  • You want an approach that helps clients move beyond coping and toward genuine relief and full resolution?

If so, Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

What Is Traumatic Incident Reduction?

Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) is a highly structured, person-centered method designed to help clients safely revisit and fully process unresolved traumatic experiences.

Unlike approaches that focus primarily on symptom management, TIR helps clients work directly with the underlying incidents that continue to fuel emotional distress, unwanted reactions, limiting beliefs, and recurring patterns.

Through a carefully guided process, clients often experience significant reductions in emotional charge, allowing them to move forward with greater clarity, freedom, and resilience.

For decades, TIR has been used by practitioners worldwide in mental health, addiction recovery, social services, coaching, crisis intervention, and trauma recovery settings.

What You’ll Learn

During this experiential four-day training, you will learn:

  • The theory and principles underlying TIR

  • How unresolved trauma continues to affect present-day functioning

  • How trauma-related triggering and reactivation occur

  • How to assess client readiness for TIR

  • How to facilitate the complete TIR process

  • How to use Unblocking to prepare clients for deeper work

  • How to work within a highly structured framework while maintaining a person-centered approach

  • How to recognize when TIR is appropriate and when alternative interventions may be indicated

You’ll not only learn the concepts—you’ll experience the process firsthand through supervised exercises and demonstrations.

What You’ll Be Able To Do After This Training

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

✓ Help clients identify and resolve unresolved traumatic incidents

✓ Reduce trauma-related emotional reactivity

✓ Facilitate trauma work within a clear, repeatable framework

✓ Increase confidence when working with difficult trauma cases

✓ Help clients move beyond repetitive retelling toward meaningful resolution

✓ Integrate TIR into your existing professional practice

✓ Use Unblocking to address broader life themes and areas of concern

A Different Way to Think About Trauma Recovery

Many helping professionals are trained to help clients manage symptoms, develop coping skills, and gain insight.

While these approaches can be valuable, unresolved trauma often continues to generate emotional distress beneath the surface.

TIR offers a different perspective.

Rather than focusing solely on managing the consequences of trauma, TIR helps clients directly process and resolve the underlying incidents that continue to affect them.

This often leads to profound shifts in how clients think, feel, and respond to situations that previously triggered distress.

What Practitioners Are Saying

"Very detailed training that brought new ideas and applications...Love the experiential component...Very high-quality material, above and beyond what I know about other coaching programs. Extremely useful tools."

Candra Ann Huston, LCSW

Austin, TX

"Kevin Thomas is an extraordinary trainer and I am thrilled to start a mentorship program with him and become certified."

Isabell Springer, PhD, LMFT (psychologist)

LA, CA

"The flow of information was very systematic, and the videos and breakout sessions occurred at productive intervals. I can't think of anything that could have been improved about the overall training. This training was very powerful. Small number of participants, experienced personable trainer, excellent resources, clarifications and recommendations provided by trainer were concise and relevant, and breaks were not too long or too frequent."

Johanna Park, LMHC

Keaau, HI

"I found Kevin to be very professional and highly ethical, and at the same time very caring, with a deep concern for helping others prevail over their struggles…I would recommend Kevin, without reservation, to anyone seeking liberation from from past traumas, as well as to those in search of personal growth and reaching their full human potential."

Ragnhild Malnati, LCSW-C
