TIVAEVAE WORKSHOP BY TAMAPUA PERA
Event description
Kia orana! Brown Town is proud to present our first workshop of the year - we’re learning the art of tivaevae 🪢
Tiavaevae are treasured quilts hailing from Kūki ‘Āirani. They are made from brightly coloured fabrics and designs, and are stitched with aro'a and care.
This workshop will be lead by Tamapua Pera, a passionate artist who is dedicated to sharing her knowledge with her community. Mama Pua, as she is affectionately known, comes from a kopu tangata of skilled tivaevae makers, and we are thrilled to be collaborating with her for this workshop.
In this workshop, Mama Pua will teach us how to design, cut, and sew our own pillowcases.
Register your expression of interest below. Due to limited capacity, we may not be able to accommodate everyone. We will be in touch via email to confirm attendance.
