Event description

The TMBC team are delighted to invite you to our upcoming online Partners Forum that is scheduled to take place (via Goole Meet) on Thursday 29th May at 1pm – 2pm.

This session will focus on Avian Bird Flu - HPAI H7N6 - lessons from a recent incursion as it impacts a supply chain and what a biosecurity incident can mean for business, international trade, and a region.

We are excited to have presentations from –

  • Michael Brooks - Executive director of the Poultry Industry Association. Industry impacts around the recent response to HPAI H7N6, in Otago, how it affected the business and learnings for the sector as we prepare for HPAI H5N1.
  • Kristina Cooper - Audit and Compliance Manager at Coda Operations LP. Set the scene regarding your experience at Coda with the high pathogenicity avian influenza, HPAI H7N6, in Otago.
  • Tasha Williams -  MPI Market Access lead for South Asia. Lifting the lid on trade controls around the recent response to HPAI H7N6, in Otago, how it affected NZs exports and the features of the trade response

In a region where our livelihoods and economy are so dependent on the natural environment, the focus of TMBC continues to be on increasing local awareness about why biosecurity matters to all of us who live here and just what would be lost if exotic pests or diseases entered and established in our region. Our aim is to increase public awareness and participation to prevent introductions, ensuring unwanted pests don’t end up as long-term issues for our people, communities and councils to manage.

An email will be sent, to ticket holders, with a link to the Goole Meet event 48hours prior to the event starting.

We look forward to seeing you online.

A special thank you to our Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital Funding Partners who make events like this possible.

Leading and taking collaborative action towards biosecurity excellence.
