TMBC Haerenga Taiao Field Trip - Otāwhiwhi Marae, Bowentown
Event description
The Māori Caucus are excited to announce their upcoming Haerenga Taiao field trip that will take us by bus from Sulphur Point, Tauranga to Otāwhiwhi Marae in Bowentown. The day will highlight how contemporary science and knowledge tools are utilised to explore how we can respond to marine and terrestrial biosecurity incursions.

This event is free to attend. Please ensure you register early as seats are limited.
The programme for the day is infused with both Mātauranga Māori, mana atua, whakapapa and maramataka laying the framework for understanding Te Ao Tūroa. Morning tea (Paramanawa) and lunch (Wā tina) will be included, and topics we'll cover across the day include:
- Adapting to Change - Great White Shark Monitoring and Research
- PA Surveillance and Risk Mapping
- Utilising maramataka as a framework for Marine Management
- Asian Paddle Crab Monitoring
