Tomato and Summer Veggie Growing Workshop
Event description
Join Peter Heidenreich at the Salisbury East Neighbourhood Centre Open Day as we explore how to start a vegetable garden from scratch.
Whether you have limited space or a big block, Peter will take you through the critical steps of designing your garden, preparing the soil, choosing the right kind of garden bed for your needs and planting the right seeds or seedlings at the right time.
Listen as Peter explains how to correctly water and mulch your garden for the best possible harvest, while minimising damage to your crop naturally.
Check out a huge selection of heirloom tomato seedlings as part of the Northern Adelaide Tomato Festival. The range will be available for sale all day from 10am - 2 pm. Peter will show some of the key varieties of tomatoes you can grow and how to stake, maintain and prune your tomato vines for best results.
You'll have the opportunity to ask questions along the way, and also a longer time for a Q and A session towards the end.
This workshop is just one of the events at the SENC Open Day.
Free tours of the model garden will be available along with a kids' succulent growing workshop and a wide range of other family activities.
