Be a part of this special presentation supported by the Nelson Meers Foundation featuring the stars of the Tomeka Reid Quartet, celebrating string instruments in jazz and improvised music, and exploring boundary-pushing, improvisational string playing.

Workshop: 11:00am-12:15pm $30
The first session is a 75 minute Workshop featuring the quartet in a special short performance followed by a Q&A covering areas of improvisation, composition, technique and presentation.
Masterclass Series: 12:45pm-15:00pm $75
The second session is 3 x 45 minute up-close Masterclasses, each focusing on different instruments and players in the ensemble.
12:45-13:30 – Tomeka Reid, improvisation for Strings
13:30-14:15 – Mary Halvorson, improvisation for Guitar
14:15-15:00 – Jason Roebke and Tomas Fujiwara, improvisation for Rhythm Section

* Attendance of Masterclass Series includes FREE ENTRY to the Tomeka Reid Quartet performance for Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival at ACO Neilson Theatre on Friday 23 October.
