Tone List presents Dale Gorfinkel (Naarm) with Gabriella Hill (Warrang) & Elsa Mona

Three thoughtful improvised performances with body, breath and air.

We are pleased to present an opportunity to gather and listen to performances from interstate visitors, here to participate in our annual Sounding Together improviser's retreat.

Dale Gorfinkel is works in rhythmic groups Chikchika and Prophets, multiple improvisation-driven projects, sound sculpture creation, and inclusive participatory music. One of the deepest listeners we know, his work was profiled on Disclaimer by Jen Callaway, articulating his distinct approach.

Punters might remember Dale Gorfinkel's 'headbanging' performance from 2025 on multiple drum kits, detuned guitars & sample pads. For this show he works with one of his other inventions: a kind of 'acoustic modular synthesiser' made of garden irrigation materials, balloons, resonators and pumps.

Dale is joined by Sounding Together participant Gabriella Hill, a tenor saxophonist connected to Sydney's burgeoning scene for left-field jazz, and Elsa Mona, a local multi-disciplinary artist using dance and sound to work in the tension between brutality and tenderness.

Accessibility

Fremantle Small Projects is fully wheelchair accessible.

Seating available is minimal. Cushions and rugs will be available. Seats will be reserved for patrons who need them.

The venue will be dimly, warmly lit with lamps and coloured LEDs. Stage lighting will be minimal & static.

The venue may feel crowded.

As the space is a bit of a box in terms of reverb, sounds like the saxophone may feel quite loud and intense in the space.
