Tour of Nambour Tram Terminus

The Nambour Tram Terminus building forms part of a 10-year project to reactivate the heritage-listed Tramway running through the Nambour CBD. The Terminus will soon house a unique tram running along the old Cane Tramway, through the centre of town and eventually into the Nambour Showgrounds, giving the town a piece of moving street art.

The building's design draws inspiration from the old Moreton Mill, with tropical rooflines, traditional corrugated iron and merging gables.

Architect Trevor Smith of Greenway Architects has captured the essence of Nambour's past in a contemporary building that has become a pivotal hub for the community since opening. The design offers a meeting place and visitor information centre, sited within steps of both bus and rail drop-offs, and houses office space for a Town Project Officer.

The tram, currently under construction, will be housed on-site and unique to Nambour. It features a "Steam Punk" design, runs on heritage 2" track, and draws its power from 92 x 350kw solar panels on the Terminus roof, storing energy through super capacitors rather than batteries.
