Towards a Road User Assessment Program
Event description
This event is free for ACRS members and non-members, but registration is essential.
The Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) has been funded by the ACT's Road Safety Grants program to conduct a scoping study on a Road User Assessment Program (RUAP). The study is titled “Towards Five Star Road Users”.
The project explores the feasibility of benchmarking road users and draws on the experience of other benchmarking efforts in road safety such as ANCAP and AusRAP that allocate safety star-ratings to vehicles and road infrastructure respectively. Our ambitious goal is to examine whether a full safe-system suite of benchmarking tools (ANCAP, AusRAP and RUAP) might be possible.
The insights yielded by the project thus far have been illuminating and there is a lot of excitement about how a RUAP could help achieve our road safety goals.
Guest speakers Cecily Michaels (Pedal Power ACT), Andy Hughes (Hughes Training Group) and Steve Lake (Road Ready Centre) will share their thoughts on what makes a five star road user and Dr Rod Katz (ACT Chapter Chair) will discuss the details of the project and its current findings.
We invite you to join us to learn more about the RUAP, to share your thoughts and ideas, and to help shape the project.
Tea and coffee will be available from 9am for a 9:30am start. The forum will conclude at 12:30pm and will be followed by a complimentary lunch for those who register before 1 April.
The forum will be held in Room Seminar One, University of Canberra, Ann Harding Conference Centre, 24 University Dr S, Bruce ACT 2617.
This event is held with assistance from the ACT Government under the ACT Road Safety Fund Community Grant Program.
