Join the Movement: Empowering Schools for Climate Action

Students are urging us all to step up and fight climate change. This event is designed for anyone who wants to make a difference: students, teachers, school leaders, parents, industry and community members. Learn from and collaborate with inspiring leaders who are empowering schools and students to play a vital role in a just transition towards a sustainable future.

This event consists of three sessions. You're welcome to attend any part or the entire event. Registration is neccessary.

Workshop & Showcase (3:30pm - 4:30pm, UTS TD School, Building 7, Floor 4, Room 560):

🌿 Empowerment and Leadership: Dive into an interactive session designed to equip you with the tools needed to develop a personal plan for supporting students, parents and teachers in driving climate action within your school and community.

🌎 Inspiring Ideas: Explore a showcase of innovative solutions identified by students, UTS staff, and scholars. Get inspired by both "in-the-box" and "out-of-the-box" approaches to sustainability.

Networking & Student Projects (4:30pm - 5:00pm, UTS TD School, Building 7, Floor 4, Room 560):

🤝 Connect and Collaborate: Network with fellow participants and delve into student-led projects aimed at contributing to our shared goal of achieving Net Zero emissions.

Panel Discussion (5:00pm - 6:00pm, UTS Building School, Building 8, Level 2, Room 2):

🎤 Meet the Panellists: Join a distinguished panel of leaders from UTS and schools as they share insights, experiences and opportunities for collaboration in tackling climate change head-on.

🌟 Featured Panellists:

  • Karen Yager: Principal at Hills Grammar School, renowned for her leadership and innovation in education. Karen will share a powerful vision for the education sector's role in supporting climate action.
  • Kimberlee Chipper: Sustainability Manager at Redlands School. With a track record of leading-edge initiatives in campus and curriculum innovation, Redlands School will share their plans to transition their campus to net-zero carbon emissions.
  • Associate Professor Paul Brown: Multi-award-winning education and sustainability innovator at UTS. He'll discuss how universities and industry can support schools and students, and foster collaborative learning and action.
  • Mel Indratheb: Program and Partnerships Manager at TD School, UTS. With expertise in leading short courses, microcredentials, enterprise learning and impactful projects, Mel is leading UTS' high school microcredential that empowers Year 10 students to tackle Net Zero challenges.
  • We'll be announcing additional guest speakers closer to the event date
