TOWER HAMLETS: Intro To Woodworking - Make a garden planter! @ Cranbrook Community Food Garden

Price £5 GBP + BF Register

Event description

This is a free introductory workshop for residents of Tower Hamlets which will give you the skills and confidence to begin building whatever you want from reclaimed timber!

Working with reclaimed timber not only reduces waste, but also creates great opportunities for artistic creation in garden and furniture design. You will be amazed at what’s possible - seating and social spaces, water-efficient planters, pergolas, and limitless other options!

We want to share these skills with you, for free! This introductory session will cover sourcing surplus timber, treating it to make it useable, basic tool use and carpentry techniques, and approaches to building some simple garden furniture.

Suitable for ages 16+. Safety equipment will be provided but sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing advised. All tools and tuition provided, you just need to turn up!

These sessions are free, but we charge a refundable £5 deposit to make sure people turn up.

If money is a barrier to you, please don't let this get in the way. Everyone is welcome to our sessions no matter what they can afford, and if even the refundable deposit is tricky, do get in touch and we can waive it.

These workshops are a part of the Tower Hamlets Carbon Reduction Community Grants Programme
