Town Hall Meeting : City Centre Safety Update

TOWN-HALL MEETING: TO UPDATE CBD BUSINESSES ON CITY CENTRE SAFETY & MONITORED CCTV

Palmy BID are inviting all of our City Centre businesses to hear & discuss city centre safety and
monitored CCTV, with a guest speaker lined up to present.

This presentation is designed to inform our members following Palmy BID’s submission to
Palmerston North City Council on the Long Term Plan (LTP) and demonstrate the benefits &
positive impacts that monitored CCTV could have on the safety & security of the CBD, as well as
the negative impacts if it is not implemented.

Palmy BID are keen to ensure that PNCC actions this submission, as it will see:
• Ensured swift responses to security incidents and potential threats to public safety
• Maintaining the collaboration with local Police to ensure incidents are attended in real time, rather than after the event

With the objectives, benefits, and outcomes being:
• Enhancing public and employee safety, reducing the fear of crime and increasing a greater sense of safety
• Aiding in the detection of potential crime and criminal patterns
• Prevention of crime through identifying potential criminal activity and anti-social behaviour
• Helping both Police and Council to respond more quickly to incidents
• Increasing vibrancy in the city by making it a safer and more attractive destination to
work in, trade in and visit
