Townsville Public Service Seminar - Parliament and Government Processes
Event description
This comprehensive full day seminar will provide a detailed understanding of the relationship between the Parliament and the Executive, and of the roles and responsibilities of public servants within government and parliamentary processes. Seminar sessions will:
a) canvass the legislative, scrutiny and financial functions of the Parliament
b) detail the roles of Members of Parliament and their interaction with the public service
c) identify public service responsibilities in relation to the processes and practices of Parliament
d) provide guidance as to how the parliamentary committee system works and what to expect if you are called to give evidence before one of these committees.
Keynote speakers will include the Speaker of the Queensland Parliament, Hon Curtis Pitt MP, other Members of Parliament; the Deputy Clerk of the Queensland Parliament, Michael Ries; and senior parliamentary and government officers.
