Description

Towong Shire residents! Are you involved in or interested in joining a community group, association, Committee, or Board? Join us for a series of free, online workshops led by Mary Hoodless to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of your efforts. Participating groups will also have access to mentoring with Mary, ensuring your group can maximise its use and integration of the workshop learnings.

Participation is entirely free, though registrations are essential. You can participate in one workshop, or both - whichever suits your needs and interests.

Session 1: Foundations for Community Involvement

(Monday 7th October, 7pm – 9pm)

This workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the roles, responsibilities, and opportunities available to you. Discover why fresh perspectives are vital to these groups, learn about your collective "why," and explore the strengths-based approach to individual roles.

We’ll cover essential topics like good governance, navigating conflict within groups, and the importance of maintaining group morale. This session is perfect for anyone looking to deepen their understanding and impact within their community.

Session 2: Sustainability & Succession Planning

(Monday 14th October, 7pm – 9pm)

This session focuses on sustainability and succession planning, critical for any community group aiming for long-term success. Learn why a succession plan is necessary, how to assess current skills and gaps, and the best ways to nurture and attract new members.

We’ll explore practical steps to develop and implement a succession plan, overcome barriers such as role transition, and use technology to facilitate meetings and build leadership confidence. This session is ideal for current members and leaders who want to ensure their group’s future is bright and sustainable.

Mentoring: Participating groups will also have access to mentoring with Mary, ensuring your group can maximise its use and integration of the workshop learnings. Mentoring hours are limited per group, and can be utilised in the way that best meets your needs – this could be reviewing or developing a succession plan, or diving into the details of your constitution.

Funded by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal in partnership with HMSTrust and the Sidney Myer Fund.
