Trans and Non Binary Makers Group (06.10.26)
Group Description
Meet other Trans and Non-Binary people, learn some new skills and help make something useful for the community.
This group will meet fortnightly between Tuesday 2nd June and Tuesday 6th October for private use of the Edinburgh Tool Library Community Workshop in Leith.
We start each week with a cup of tea and a light bite to eat, followed by about 90 minutes in the workshop
This is a mixed ability group that is very beginner friendly. We're all learning together. We will be working at a gentle pace to allow plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and to get to know your fellow makers.

Settle in with a Snack
Use these 30minutes to settle into the space however you need. Some people like to sit quietly after a busy bus journey, others like the time to chat and catch up. This will be in clean and quiet room separated from the main workshop. We'll provide soup, bread, tea, coffee and juice.

Making In The Workshop
90 minutes making time. Activities vary week to week.
What to expect
🏳️⚧️ It’s especially run for trans, non-binary and gender questioning people (16+) only. We welcome all trans and non-binary identities, including gender non-confirming.
🏳️🌈 This group is LGBT+ facilitated and delivered in partnership with LGBT Health and Wellbeing of the Making With Pride' Programme
🎟️ There will be 8 spaces available each week.
🪵 We will provide all materials
🥽 We have PPE (mask, ear defenders, safety glasses) for all attendees but we recommend you to bring your own if you have them.
🛠️ You will have access to a wide range of large-format woodworking tools, hand tools, power tools and a workbench space.

Follow any instructions to use machines safely

Tie long hair back, do not wear loose clothing or jewellery

Barriers to Access
Currently, our main entrance and toilet are not wheelchair accessible due to a steep ramp and narrow doors and turning spaces.If there is anything you need to talk to us about in advance to help you access the event please email michelle@lgbthealth.org.uk or phone 0131 564 3970.
We aim to make our workshop wheelchair accessible workshop by the end of 2026.
