Trans Day of Vengeance
Event description
The Northern Suburbs SHARPs invite you to Cafe Gummo on the 29th of March to celebrate Trans Day of Visibility and Vengeance.
A fundraiser celebrating trans and gender diverse musicians in support of BlaQ, the Incarcerated Trans and Gender Diverse Community Fund, and Beyond Bricks and Bars.
Featuring Blak Queer decolonial hip hop from Race Rage, loud punks Hetslayer, post punk three piece LXRP, folk punk femme The Crop Tops, and silly gay folk punkers Sad Bitch Hours from 8.30pm; with reggae and oi vinyl spinning from Bovver Beats from 6.30pm, enjoy a night of music to raise money for three great causes and enjoy some incredible trans musicians.
This gig takes place on Wurundjeri land. The venue, bands, SHARPs and attendees acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and that sovereignty was never ceded. We especially keep trans, genderdiverse, and brotherboy and sistergirl Aboriginal people in our hearts.
Trans people are having their personhood ripped from them.
Self definition and expression only go so far when healthcare is ripped out of the hands of trans people.
The right to control your own body free from violence, economic barriers and discrimination in society, trans liberation is linked to all movements for equality and justice.
The working class, antiracists, and antifascists should stand in solidarity with trans people as we gain strength through comradery.
It's vital we nurture strong communities by respecting diversity to build a movement capable of defending all of our lives.
