Event description

Fancy a morale boost during the global trans moral panic? Sick of Starmer and Rowling on our screens? Want to celebrate London's 6th Trans Pride with a few thousand more years of radical trans history?

Let's take back our streets – with trans-led tours of trans London!

Through stories of trans and gender-diverse Londoners from 200 BCE to the present, we'll learn about...

  • London's generations of trans community organisers, from medieval sex workers to the radical trans women behind British Gay Liberation

  • Colonial suppression of Indigenous gender diversity from Punjab to Palestine – and what that has to do with British TERFs today

  • Trans Londoners' experiences of migration to and from the Big Smoke

  • Histories of trans DIY, community-led healthcare, and the eugenics roots of today's NHS trans health crisis

  • Occult, spiritual, and magical roots of trans London life today

  • Trans celebrities – and celeb scandals! – past and present

  • And more!

Tours run for approximately 1.5-2 hours on Sundays from 1pm, starting in the Charles II statute in Soho Square and finishing by Embankment Station. Route is step-free, but may be subject to change in busy central London. Get in touch for more detailed access info or questions. No one turned away for lack of funds – get in touch if the free tix run out. Don't miss these tours while they run – for a limited time only!

Content note: tours contain themes of trans/homophobia, racism, colonialism, abuse, and violence.

Jack Doyle is a gay and trans historian, tour guide, writer, and organiser based in East London. He's worked as a frontline trans health justice worker, Oxford's first named lecturer in LGBTQ history, agony aunt for Irresistible Damage, and grassroots community educator.
