Trans Social Club: Crafting for Trans Joy! (online)
Event description
This event is for transgender, gender diverse, gender questioning and non-binary people.
Trans Social Club (online) meets monthly online and is designed for trans, gender diverse and binary people who want to connect with other TGD people in a safe, inclusive and affirming environment. Come have a chat, build social connections, and do some fun activities!
What to expect: Crafting for trans joy!
Bring a craft project that you have been working on or even something new to try!
If you are not a fan of crafting, then there will conversation prompts and games (if you want!).
The theme is TRANS JOY! (this theme will mean something different depending on you).
The group will be facilitated by LJ (they/them), they will be there to guide the conversation and activities.
Show and tell: if you feel comfortable, bring something to share with the group for show and tell. It could be something that has made you feel affirmed or gender euphoric; it could be a book you love, a song you can't stop listening to, a drawing you've drawn... anything that springs to mind!
If possible, please log in via a laptop in a private place where you will not be interrupted. If you do zoom in on your phone, let us know, so we can accommodate your needs.
Who is the group for:
Any trans or gender diverse person who wants to connect with others.
The group is neurodivergent, BIPOC, and all abilities friendly.
Participants must be 16 years and over.
If cost is a barrier for you, please email us below.
Here are some tips for finding free/cheap craft materials:
Visit your local op shop - they often have cheap materials
Visit your local newsagent, op-shop, library or any other similar service, they often have old newspapers/ magazines (for collaging)
Ask friends if they have old craft supplies
There are so many different things you can use to craft with, think outside the box! You could use old tissue boxes, receipts, material etc.
If none of these options are accessible - please reach out and we can send you a craft pack (please reach out at least a week in advance).
A Zoom link will be emailed once you have registered. However, if you do not receive a link before the event or have a question, please email groupcoordinator@tgv.org.au.
