About the webinar

We’re launching something exciting for the new NSW Syllabus! Pearson Secondary Teaching Hub and the corresponding Student Companions are your one-stop-shop for purposeful teaching and learning.

In this session you will get a sneak peek at our new, one-of-a-kind digital product — Pearson Secondary Teaching Hub — a digital platform designed to simplify teaching and energise learning. Teaching Hub offers a flexible collection of digital topics and lessons and is complemented with the corresponding Student Companions. Our content has been written specifically to the new NSW Syllabus by experienced teachers from all over Australia.


In this session we will:

  • share a high-level overview of the changes in the new NSW syllabus.
  • demonstrate how Teaching Hub promotes student engagement utilising both guided and independent practice with opportunities for immediate feedback and updates on student progress.
  • outline the relationship between print and digital resources to give you the flexibility to provide the perfect mix of online and offline learning to minimise distraction and maximise learning time.
  • share strategies designed to support differentiated learning to cater for the mixed ability needs in your classroom.
  • there will be time for a chat-based Q&A at the end.

Your presenters

Lindy Sharkey

Lindy is our lead Mathematics publisher, with over 15 years’ experience in education, she started her career as a mathematics teacher in regional government schools. She has been a contributing author on previous Pearson titles including Pearson Mathematics Second Edition, Pearson Diagnostic and Pearson Queensland Senior Mathematics. Lindy continues to be a regular contributor to the development of assessment and curriculum for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Lindy is a columnist for The Mathematical Association of Victoria’s Vinculum journal and a judge for the Educational Publishing Awards.

Garthe Jones

Garthe is our senior Mathematics publisher. Garthe is a former 7-12 Mathematics teacher and has worked in both the public and private secondary school sectors in New South Wales. Garthe brings with him over 20 years of experience and educational expertise having also created and lead the development of digital learning platforms in educational publishing companies. Garthe has also previously contributed to the development of trial assessments for HSC.
