Transforming Australia through fibre - Brendan Donohoe Executive General Manager Sales, NBN Co
Event description
This is a free event for Telsoc members and guests. Please register to get sent the Zoom link day prior.
nbn has established a program to upgrade our customers on copper to fibre. Moving customers to fibre provides incredible benefits to customers, ie homes and businesses. A fibre solution is much more reliable, has less faults and outages, and can currently deliver download speeds up to 1 Gbps. Fibre is also future proof and capable of delivering the multi-gig that will be needed in the future. Recently, nbn achieved a word-first by achieving wholesale download speed of 83 Gbps on the live nbn full fibre access network.
In this session I will share an update on how many sites are now available for fibre, how to get access to fibre and some insights into the programs we are running to help our retailers move customers to fibre.
As an industry we are making great progress, however we are in the early stages and there is a lot more work to be done. I'll provide insights into what we are seeing and some of the challenges as an industry we need to work on together in order to achieve the true benefits of customers moving from a copper to a fibre solution.
