From Primary to Secondary: A New Beginning
Description
This session will provide families with practical advice about preparing their child for year 7 and supporting them through this significant transition. We will explore ways to build confidence, independence, organisation and a sense of connection before the school year begins. Families will also receive guidance on helping their child manage the changes, expectations and emotions associated with starting secondary school so they can begin feeling prepared, supported and ready to thrive.
Families will hear directly from students about their experiences of transitioning to high school, including what helped them settle in, the challenges they encountered and the advice they would offer future students and their families.
We are pleased to welcome a diverse panel of voices who bring valuable perspectives on student transition, inclusion, and wellbeing.
The Panel:
A group of students who will share their firsthand experiences of secondary school life,
Year 7 Leader and Transition Leader, who support students as they navigate the move into secondary education, and our Assistant Principal of Disability and Inclusion, who leads initiatives that ensure every student is supported to thrive and belong.
Together, the panel will provide insights into the transition journey, the supports available to students, and what helps create a positive and inclusive school experience for all.
