Join Transport Australia in Sydney on Tuesday, 27 October for an industry lunch exploring the transport system shaping the next chapter of Western Sydney.

Just two days after Western Sydney International Airport welcomes its first passengers, the conversation will turn to what comes next as the region moves from planning and construction into operation, connectivity and growth.

With the airport opening, freight already moving, and the continued development of Bradfield City Centre and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, the focus is shifting to how roads, public transport, freight networks and major economic precincts will work together as one connected system.

Hear from two senior leaders shaping the future of transport across NSW:

The Hon. Jenny Aitchison MP, NSW Minister for Roads and Minister for Regional Transport, will provide a keynote address on the infrastructure, connectivity and long-term planning supporting Western Sydney’s continued growth.

Josh Murray, Secretary, Transport for NSW, will also deliver a keynote address before joining the panel discussion, bringing a whole-of-network perspective on the opportunities and challenges ahead as Western Sydney enters this next phase of development.

Transport infrastructure will play a critical role in unlocking housing, connecting communities to jobs and education, supporting access to the airport and surrounding economic precincts, and moving people and freight efficiently across the region.

This lunch will bring together leaders from government and industry to explore the infrastructure, policy and partnerships needed to connect Western Sydney International Airport, Bradfield City Centre, the Aerotropolis, local communities, freight corridors and employment lands — and support the region's growth for decades to come.

The Hon. Jenny Aitchison MP is the NSW Minister for Roads and Minister for Regional Transport and has represented the electorate of Maitland since 2015. Prior to entering Parliament, Jenny spent nearly two decades as a national award-winning coach tour operator and was a strong advocate for Australia’s bus, tourism and transport industries. She has held a range of senior parliamentary portfolios and brings extensive experience across regional transport, roads, infrastructure and community resilience. Having lived in regional NSW for nearly 30 years, Jenny is a strong advocate for safe, connected and resilient transport networks that support communities and regional economies.

Josh Murray is the NSW Secretary of Transport, leading a team of 30,000 people across the portfolio dedicated to keeping NSW moving and connected. He is focused on delivering a once-in-a-generation transport system that is safe, sustainable, integrated, and equitable.

Josh is passionate about evolving our state transport network to offer greater choice and seamless experiences to meet the diverse needs of its users – while driving better results for housing, jobs and the cost of living.
