    What is circularity? How will we make the circular economy a reality?

    Redefine “trash” during this short-but-sweet panel and networking event. Industry experts with private, public, and non-profit sector experience will share advanced insights, cutting edge case studies, and answer your questions on waste prevention. Career pivoters, students, sustainability professionals, and anyone interested in the circular economy are all welcome. Entry fee includes appetizers and refreshments.

    This is a collaboration between GreenHomeNYC and Out in Climate. Attendees of all backgrounds are encouraged to come. If ticket cost is prohibitive, please contact jcostello3100@gmail.com.

    Circular Economy Specialist, Rubicon

    Since day one staffing a food scrap collection site, Jimmie knew waste was his future. Jimmie’s drive for waste reduction has led him to educate thousands about composting, complete 60+ informational interviews with sustainability pros, and earn multiple advanced certifications including TRUE Zero Waste Advisor.

    Miryam Shemwell (she/her)

    Waste Operations Manager, NYC Public Schools Office of Energy & Sustainability  

    Passionate about NYC, waste management, and education, Miryam supports NYC Public Schools in their recycling and composting efforts. Prior to working with the Office of Energy & Sustainability, she was the Senior Team Manager for GrowNYC’s Compost Program. She has a Master of Science in Sustainability at Universite de Montreal.



    Celeste McMickle (she/her)

    Director of Client Solutions, TRUE Zero Waste (USGBC)

    Celeste has a background in architecture and is a TRUE Advisor, LEED AP and LEED Green Rater. She worked as a LEED consultant for many years before her passion for recycling and composting led her to the wild world of zero waste.  She serves on the board of NYSAR3 and the Brooklyn Solid Waste Advisory Board and is a certified Master Composter and Permaculture Designer. She is a 2021 recipient for the 40 under 40 award by Waste360. Celeste holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University and a Master of Science in Sustainable Design from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture



    Laura Rosenshine (she/her)

    Co-Founder, WATS

    Laura founded Common Ground Compost LLC (CGC) after a few years working in the commercial waste sector, including working with a Norwegian-based technology company piloting in-vessel organics processing in NYC. In 2017, Laura co-founded Footprint Group which was focused on bringing standardization and industry best practices to the waste management programs of multi-location hospitality and food businesses. In 2021, Laura returned to CGC to focus on building WATS. Laura is a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor.
