I'm a Lived Experience Community Services Professional specializing in trauma and mental health recovery. My journey has included navigating trauma, surviving suicide, substance use, and intimate partner violence. As a single mother, I understand the added challenges of healing while raising children. Through my own journey of recovery, I discovered the power of peer support and ultimately became a peer worker and now a lived experience leader, mentoring other peer professionals on maintaining a trauma-informed lens in their work—both for their own well-being and for those they support. This personal experience, combined with over a decade working in community services across diverse settings, from housing and homelessness to prison rehabilitation, has given me a unique understanding of trauma-informed care. I'm certified in Community Services, Counselling, Mental Health Awareness, Suicide Prevention, and Trauma-Informed Practice, and have benefited from the mentorship of leading trauma experts like Gabor Mate, Karen Hulls, and Anne O'Neill (Angelhands). I'm passionate about sharing these insights and creating a safe space for you to explore how to integrate these tools into your own life. Whether you are a professional or a consumer seeking further knowledge and understanding, I invite you to join me in this workshop where we can learn and grow together. * FOR CONSIDERATION This session is designed for information sharing and peer learning. It's important to remember that it is not a substitute for therapy or a formal support group. If you're experiencing a crisis or need individual support, please reach out to us separately. We can provide you with crisis resources or information about our Peer Mentoring services, which offer one-on-one support. * A note about sensitive content: This session will cover topics that may be triggering for some, including intimate partner violence, crime, assault, substance use (AOD), suicide, and trauma. Please prioritize your well-being and engage with the material in a way that feels safe for you. |
