Event description

[Dear colleagues, due to the overwhelming interests in attending the Trauma Informed Care workshop, it is fully subscribed for now, however, please register your interest by joining the waitlist. We will consider offering a second TIC workshop if there are significant number of interests]

“Trauma-informed Care (TIC) refers to a range of interventions, practices and scientific perspectives that acknowledge the rates of individuals who are affected by trauma in our community, understands how trauma impacts on their lives and their mental health support needs and emphasises the importance of considering trauma when understanding a consumer’s presentation. TIC also prioritises the wellbeing and health of the workforce by acknowledging and supporting staff experiencing vicarious and secondary trauma in the workplace.” (QLD Health, 2021)

The TIC Workshop will be beneficial to workers, volunteers and policy makers in the health care and human services sectors although anyone who has an interest in TIC is welcomed. The TIC Workshop will run for approximately 4 hours with light lunch provided.

The Trauma Informed Care Workshop is provided by the Metro South Disaster Recovery Team which is jointly funded by the Queensland Government and the Australian Government in respond to the impacts of the severe weather event in southeast Queensland in 2022.
