Trauma Informed Yoga with Pia (Natimuk Wellness Project)
Event description
📍Location: ArapilesFlow Movement Studio, 117 Main Street, Natimuk (enter via Depot Lane)
This type of yoga acknowledges that we all live with various degree's of trauma imprints, and offers a compassionate awareness that 'I' as the teacher/guide will be mindful that there can be different environments and stimuli that can re-remind or activate hidden memories to come into ones awareness, and that although it can be helpful to integrate experiences and bring awareness to trauma in order to heal it, it can also be re-traumatising if not handled with care, consideration and respect. This trauma informed rest yoga session is about providing and encouraging you to make choices that best serve you, that although I will provide suggestions and offerings, you can make different choices to what I am suggesting. I this session we cultivate the ability to lean into self-autonomy, that the authority of decision making lay's within you. I will provide suggestions for the body to find ways to deeply rest, through different shapes and asanas we can regulate the nervous-system. I will provide tools and strategies to either allow you to 'be-with' or manage (through regulation practices) uncomfortable feelings, thoughts and emotions and a sense of deep understanding, compassion and care. At anytime you would like more support from me, I am there to call upon. I have consent cards with Yes and No on them, for the option of whether you would like touch or no touch (this could change throughout the practice), if you would like a hand to hold or a hug I am there, or would like no contact but for me to be by your side these can be called upon, with the awareness that I can only attend to one person at a time, if I am called upon by more than one person, I will attend to you if you have asked me, but depending on if I am already attending to someone else I may just take a few moments to get to you. This space will be held with care, compassion and uncondstional-positive-awareness that you have the wisdom and insight within you, while be-ing there to assist you, support you and provide guidance when wanted or needed.
Hello there, this is a small introduction to who I am and what I offer. My name is Pia, and I was brought up on the lands of muwinina people whose lives I acknowledge and their presence still felt, and the broader pakana and palawa communities that continue to offer and feed good spirit to Nipaluna and Lutruwita. I identify as a dynamic fay-like woman, who cultivates and practices compassion and a centred awareness that I am living with this earth and all other life forms, this gives me a sense of being grounded and supported. I offer spaces that hope to promote healing, love, and care, particularly to places within ourselves that need offerings of kindness in order to heal. My intention is to offer creative and awareness based practices that can bring about compassion-conscious-evolution, for oneself and the collective, to acknowledge pain and love, to turn toward truth with love and care. ~ Pia
