TRC Human Rights Day 2026: The Truth Within the Soil of Tamil Eelam

This Human Rights Day, the Tamil Refugee Council invites you to The Truth Within the Soil of Tamil Eelam — a two-day exhibition bringing together history, testimony, documentation and community voices to examine the experiences of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka.

From mass graves and enforced disappearances to displacement, destruction and the continuing search for loved ones, the exhibition explores events and experiences of the Sri Lankan state genocide against the Tamil people. Through carefully curated displays, photographs, historical material and documented accounts, visitors will be invited to engage with stories that continue to shape Tamil communities today.

The exhibition is grounded in four themes: People, Truth, Justice and a Fairer Tomorrow. It seeks not only to remember those who have been lost, but to create a space for education, reflection and discussion about accountability, human rights and the future.

Across the weekend, visitors will be able to explore the exhibition at their own pace and engage with members of the community. On Sunday afternoon, the exhibition will be followed by formal proceedings featuring invited politicians, human rights advocates, community representatives and other guest speakers.
