About the Artist - Sam Lewis

Sam Lewis has collaborated with everyone from Leon Russell to The Wood Brothers. Chris Stapleton dubbed him “a modern Townes Van Zandt”. He’s often labeled with some form of the word ‘soulful’ (some have even compared his voice to molasses), Lewis’ style meets at a juncture of many different genres however he’s discovered what most musicians spend lifetimes working for; the place where feel-good music meets vital social commentary. 

After spending a nomadic youth throughout the Southeast (USA), he began calling Nashville home in 2009. Since then he’s been joined on his journey by some of music’s most righteous and luminary figures. He has pressed the first few chapters in his career’s studio anthology with the release of his self-titled debut (2012), sophomore release Waiting On You (2015), third studio release Loversity(2018) and live-acoustic album Solo(2020). All have received critical acclaim and each session as grown with the legendary family for which he has adopted to curate and share his musical inner-vision with his listeners. 

Waiting On You was co-produced by roots music cornerstone, Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers, Tedeschi Trucks Band). Adjoined by their savant fluency in the soul music lexicon, Lewis and Wood called upon the instrumental palettes of masters including Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson, Neil Young), Darrell Scott (Robert Plant, Guy Clark), Will Kimbrough (Jimmy Buffett, Rodney Crowell), Gabe Dixon (Paul McCartney) and the McCrary Sisters (The Fairfield Four), all placing their stamp on this enduring expression of un-compromised songwriting. 

Billboard announced the highly anticipated third studio release Loversity and premiered the video for the first single, “One and The Same”. The album landed Lewis a spot on Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists to Watch” list, with writer Marissa Moss describing the album as, “... seventies psychedelic soul, with a storyteller’s eye, a swampy Southern groove and an emotional, political punch.” Once again Lewis has given us an album filled with relentless grooves courtesy of rhythm section JT Cure and Derek Mixon (Chris Stapleton) and transfixing guitars of both Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart, Lucinda Williams) and Dan Cohen (Bruce Hornsby) - all who continue to bless each of Lewis’ studio campaigns. 

A decade worth of touring his studio efforts (mostly solo) he has captivated audiences all around the world with his songs and stories that are glued together with a unique and inclusive stage banter he’s developed from performing in numerous music halls, clubs, theaters, festivals, music cruises and the occasional living room. SOLO(2020) is a solo-acoustic album featuring new songs as well as reimagining previously released songs. Recorded at Southern Ground Studios in Nashville in front of a live audience SOLOis an intimate snapshot that captures Lewis in his element and is certain to be a fan favorite for years to come. 

Since their chance meeting in Nashville 2011, Martin Harley, Daniel Kimbro and Sam Lewis have collaborated with one another in different formats. The three have finally joined forces as a single unit now known to the world as HARLEY KIMBRO LEWIS. The trio’s debut album (released February 2021) features a collection of all original material is something quite special for us to share with one another. We couldn’t have written these songs without each other’s involvement and inspiration. We approached the album in the spirit of ‘The Band’...writing songs in the morning, recording them in the afternoon, swapping instruments and just keeping the tapes rolling.” 

Sam Lewis’ long-awaited new solo album,SUPERPOSITION (2024) , his first since 2020, irresistibly fuses Americana undertones to hazy dream-like melodies with psychedelic instrumental flourishes. Comprising eight atmospherically captivating originals alongside a compellingly unique take on Dire Straits’ ‘Walk of Life’. Superposition is the concept where a quantum system exists in multiple states simultaneously until observed or measured. This succinctly captures the essence of Sam Lewis’s latest body of work. Beyond the dense physics, over the past four years, Lewis has undergone profound personal growth, navigating the complexities of embracing both his former self and a new identity simultaneously. For those familiar with Lewis’s music over the years, this new sound may feel like a departure. Indeed, it is - a necessary evolution. Stepping into the studio, Lewis relinquished control and any sense of preciousness over his songs for the first time, Lewis says ’It was a daunting yet liberating experience, filled with terror, exhilaration, and boundless inspiration. Thankfully, I found myself in the hands of exceptionally creative and supportive collaborators during one of the most turbulent periods we’ve faced together.’ 

EVERYTHING’S FINE is Sam’s 7th studio album already being self-described as ‘a departure from the departure’that was his 2024 effort, Superposition. Teaming back up with Joe McMahan who engineered and recorded Harley Kimbro Lewis (Sam’s 2022 transatlantic collaboration with Martin Harley and Daniel Kimbro). Sam returned to Joe’s home studio in Nashville in January 2025 and performed a dozen solo-acoustic originals for Joe who listened and asked ‘what do you want to do with these songs?’Sam answered with a question of his own...’how involved do you want to be and how sparse of an album do you think we can make?’ Joe offered to produce the album also lending his many musical talents that span several instruments though quickly learning the bulk of the job would require a maximum amount of restraint to achieve the ‘sparseness' goal set forth. Fortunately Joe has decades worth of experience and is deeply in tune with the overall human condition making him and his studio a sanctuary for songwriters.

All songs live under an umbrella titled, ‘Everything’s Fine’ which Lewis says, “is kind of a blanket statement I have become obsessed with for a while now...I love it’s duality and it’s usage whether it’s regarding the micro or macro of life...maybe everything’s fine, maybe it’s not, maybe it’s ‘fine’ in the macro sense but not at all in the micro sense or vice versa. I am definitely guilty of using it to define situations that are in fact NOT ‘fine’. We all have different thresholds of what may or may not be ‘fine’ but our unwillingness to accept discourse can lead to a further sense of disconnection if not properly addressed. ‘Everything’s Fine‘ is the most appropriate statement for the world I find myself living in at the moment.” certainly something you will hear Lewis preach to his audience, “we are all trying to get somewhere — all running from something or toward something; we’re all in it together, though.”
