Trees and Caves Hike - Queer Hike at El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space
Event description
About this event
Join other members of our queer community for a hike through the redwoods! We will hike at El Corte de Madera Creek, a Midpeninsula Open Space Preserve, with a variety of ecosystems. The hike will take participants to old growth redwoods, tafoni sandstone formations, and beautiful areas of El Corte Madera Creek Open Space. Participants can expect to hike up to five miles and on uneven terrain with 600ft of elevation gain. An exact map of the planned route can be found here.
Waivers/Registration: All participants must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this page.
Meeting Location: El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Parking
Carpooling: Carpooling is a great way to make friends and do better for the environment. Participants are encouraged to carpool and can use this carpool list to sign up.
Accessibility:
There is little to no cell service in the preserve or the roads leading to it. Please visit the preserve's website for detailed information on what amenities are available. Participating will require hiking approximately 5 miles with 600 feet of elevation gain on uneven and hilly terrain.
What to Bring:
We understand that not all participants may not have everything listed below and that is not a problem whatsoever! Our community has extra supplies, access to gear libraries, and are willing to share with one another. Please include what you may need to borrow in your registration.
