Event description

Large old trees are vital to the health of our landscapes in the City of Whittlesea, whether in the bush or our local parks and streets. Trees provide shade, shelter and homes for native wildlife. Capturing images of these trees helps us value and protect them.

This photography workshop will inspire you to see trees in a new way while improving your photography skills. You’ll learn practical tips to overcome the unique challenges of photographing trees and gain insight into why these natural giants are so special.

The session involves hands-on learning and also includes a mix of discussions and image critiques. You will:

  • Share your interest in tree photography and any challenges you’ve faced
  • Receive constructive feedback on your pre-submitted photos (you can be anonymous if you prefer)
  • Head out on a field trip to practice your skills and capture the beauty of trees in the landscape.

This workshop is open to everyone—whether you’re a tree enthusiast, a beginner or a skilled photographer. All you need is a camera or smartphone and a basic understanding of how to use it.

Join us to celebrate the incredible role trees play in our world and discover how to tell their story through photography.

The workshop is presented by environmental photographer and ecologist, Dr Alison Pouliot.

Places are limited. Once registered you will be sent an email with a small activity to be done before the workshop.

This workshop is funded and supported by The City of Whittlesea
