    Event description

This is an ongoing class taking place eight times over the season (February through November). Registration here signs you up for all eight classes. Please read to the end before signing up!

Trees change dramatically through the yearly seasonal cycle, and these changes are a huge part of our own experiences of the seasons. This class will follow tree cycles starting in winter through the year of growth, flowering, fruiting, and preparing for the next winter. Each class will include some components of tree identification, biology, medicinal/edible tree parts, and development of personal connection to trees and our environments.

Classes are 1.5 hours each on Sunday mornings and Friday evenings, and will be held outside at several locations in DC's parks and natural areas. Locations include Carter Baron, Fort Slocum park, Fort Totten park, Takoma rec center, and others.

    Class schedule*:

    - Sunday February 11th 10:30am -12pm

    - Sunday March 24th 10:30am -12pm

    - Friday April 26th 6-7:30pm

    - Friday May 31st 6-7:30pm

    - Friday July 19th 6-7:30pm

    - Friday September 6th 6-7:30pm

    - Sunday October 27th 10:30am -12pm

    - Sunday December 8th 10:30am -12pm

    Two notes on dates:

    • Holly also works as a midwife's assistant-- in the unlikely event that she is called to attend a birth class will be rescheduled
    • Class will be held in light rain, but in the case of heavy rain or dangerous weather it will be rescheduled

Cost of this class is based on a sliding scale-- please decide which ticket type is comfortable for you. For more information and guidelines about sliding scale considerations please visit www.littleredbirdbotanicals.com but please note that the fees listed here are for herbal consultations, not for this class! Please choose ticket types based on the guidelines provided. Two spots are reserved at no cost to low-income BIPOC participants. If you are unable to reasonably afford tickets at these rates please contact me to arrange a rate that will work for both of us.

Accessibility: class will be held on uneven terrain, including grassy fields and woodlands. A portable chair will be provided for anyone who is uncomfortable standing for the duration of class. Please contact me if there is any way I can make this event accessible to you!
