Dementia Management Workshop 9am - 12pm | Primary Health Tasmania MBS Masterclass 1pm - 4pm |
Presented by Dementia Training Australia, the workshop focuses on a recap of the foundations of dementia diagnosis and exploration of driving and dementia and management of changed behaviours. Outline: With the number of people living with dementia expected to double to over 800000 Australians within the next 25 years (AIHW, 2024) it is vital that General Practitioners are well equipped to both diagnose and manage cognitive impairment. This is especially relevant to GPs living in rural and remote regions as access to specialists is lacking and there is a disproportionate reliance on the primary care team to manage the (often complex) problems affecting people living with dementia. Over three one-hour sessions, the Dementia Training Australia Team will outline an approach to making a diagnosis of dementia and understanding the various dementia subtypes, briefly discuss post-diagnostic management, MBS billing numbers to utilise when managing people living with dementia and then explore driving and dementia and changed behaviours in greater depth. Learning outcomes:
The workshop is highly interactive. Questions will be encouraged, there will be live polling and case discussions. Time permitting, participants will have an opportunity to trial unfamiliar cognitive assessment tools and troubleshoot cases. | Join us for a high-impact masterclass designed to equip your practice with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in a changing primary care landscape. This session will explore the powerful role of data in driving quality improvement, provide a practical deep dive into integrating MyMedicare into daily workflows, and unpack the significant upcoming changes to Chronic Disease Management (CDM) within the MBS, effective 1 July 2025. Key highlights include:
This session is ideal for practice managers, GPs, nurses, and anyone involved in practice operations and planning. Don’t miss the opportunity to prepare your team for what's next in general practice. |
