Details

Lachlan is a fourth generation, indigenous Gympie local who grew up in housing commission and was the first in his family to graduate from university. His career has included working in the insurance & banking and employment & training sectors. He has also worked in the public service and provided advice to local community & health boards on programs and government policies. Lachlan currently works in a community stakeholder engagement role. His experience has shown him the value of listening to people in the community, and the importance of aligning policy with community values. He understands the pressures of the cost of living and is focussed on achieving better outcomes for families, community and the Gympie region. Lachlan is focussed on doing what matters including reducing the cost of living, addressing the housing crisis, improving local infrastructure and focussing on energy and community sustainability. Queensland Labor has a record of supporting the community of Gympie and Cooloola Bay Region. The total infrastructure spent on the Bruce Highway Gympie Bypass is over $1.1 billion (Federal and State Labor) to be opened soon. This will provide improved safety, flood resilience and capacity to separate long-distance and local traffic. In November 2020, the Coondoo Creek Bridge was opened and this has provided safe and consistent access for residents travelling between the Cooloola and Tin Can Bay Region and Gympie. Lachlan Anderson is pleased with plans for Queensland Labor to open a new Nurse-led Clinic in Gympie by 30 September. “The Nurse-led Clinics, will provide the community of the Gympie Region access to free health care, every day from 8am to 10pm without a referral or appointment - providing real relief to the cost of living, whilst boosting access to treatment and care.”
