Troubled /& beyond. by Paul Rhodes - Opening Night
Event description
The Dax Centre is incredibly excited to present Troubled &/ beyond, a compelling new exhibition by artist and clinical psychologist Paul Rhodes.
The aim of this show is to provide a visual representation of the therapeutic journey, painted by a therapist in reflection. The aim is to document the process of bearing witness to trauma, healing and recovery. An honest attempt in painting the experience of distress, process of adversarial growth and renewal. Psychologists hold a privileged position, and this show aims to represent the therapeutic journey as a democratic one, a partnership between insider and outsider knowledge. A relationship that can be mutually transformative.
The lines are blurred, however, and it isn't easy to tell who is who. In particular, the lens will be zoomed out, beyond the therapy room itself, beyond practice and cognition, to the ecology that surrounds both therapist and client. The city, our existential responses, our humanity, the spiritual and more.
This is an important opportunity to stimulate dialogue around the mental health of healthcare workers in our community, and the role that creativity can play in social and emotional wellbeing.
All of the artworks in this exhibition are for sale, with 30% of proceeds from sales being donated to The Dax Centre. Please do not hesitate to get in touch for more information about purchasing the artwork!
We hope you can join us for the opening of the exhibition on 10 September, 6-8PM.
